  Upcoming Event at the Museum….

Sat.. Sept. 28 at 7pm.. free film “On the Basis of Sex”. A US film based on the true  life story of Ruth Bader Ginsberg and her husband, who challenged the court system of this country to change laws based on gender discrimination.

Our eastern Europe pot-luck dinner & cultural program on Sat. August 24 at 7:00pm was a huge success. We had a delicious assortment of food. The program  focused on Hungary and Romania:

  • Welcome and greetings to special guests—Anne & Tim Perry
  • Museum welcome—Mary Fae Kamm
  • DINNER  (music and video on Eastern Europe)
  • General comments about Eastern Europe and introduction of Karen Murray
  • Presentation on Romania—Karen Murray
  • Introduction of and remarks by Eva Beluska, President, MMCC (Metroplex Magyar Cultural Circle),     Vice Consul Mr. Gábor Markocsány of the Vice Consulate of Hungary in Houston,  and Vera Pintér, visiting artist
  • Song,Széki népdal” & Dance, “Dance from Szék”—Hungarian Group with additional folk dancers, under the leadership of Vera Pintér
  • Introduction of Folk Dance Medley—Tim Perry
  • Folk Dance MedleyAlenlul (Translyvania);  Caraselul (Roma Gypsy);  Sukacko Kolo(Croatia); Kujawiak (Poland);  Hora Miresu (Romania)—Folk Dancers from Plaza Arts
  •           All who participated to come up to the front; presentation of gift & group photo

Monthly Cultural Event Schedule Download .  On the 4th Saturday of each month MIC invites anyone interested in learning about and experiencing other cultures to join us for a free movie (during odd months) or a culturally-inspired Pot Luck Dinner (during even months). These events are FREE and Open to The Public. The preliminary 2019 schedule is here, but dinner themes for August, October, and December may change.
